Glenn and Glenn

Glenn and Glenn (and Schultz) Charger. The top fuel guys saw how much the funny guys were making, so some of 'em moved over to the funny ranks...Gerry Glenn (the Hunter) and Bill Schultz were a couple of hitters in the AA/FD ranks. The other Glenn, well I know, but I can't remember. Remind me, huh?

And I've been reminded.
The second Glenn? Jim Glenn, later to run a funny called 'Shady Glenn' with some guy named Jim Adolph.

Thanks, Michael Hedworth!

Dave Esqueda photo

Panic

Gary Hazen got out of the Fuel Altered thing, and went to where the money was supposed to be, Funny Cars.

WalkerDensham

Well, before current Funny Car racer Gary Densham got his NEC/AAA deal, he ran a whole sting of low-buck funny cars, of which this is one...always had a different body style than the heavy hitters, here we se a Pinto body, he also ran a 260Z body before they outlawed foreign manufacturers.

Harrell Vega

The man withe the longest name ever to run a funny, Larry Christopherson, partnered up with Dick Harrell for a while in the early 70's.

1/5/2000!
New information just in! Seems that Larry wasn't fond of fire, so he stepped out of the car after a singeing...
David Ray, was hired by Dick to drive the Vega, and did so until Dick's unfortunate death, when the entire Harrell operation ceased.

Joe Winter

Joe Winter's "Swinger" Mustang. This car had a pronounced rake as the back of the body was mounted much higher than most other funnys. If this car looks familiar, it's because that this is the car that Gary Burgin ran into when he crashed his Vega at Lions, seen elsewhere on this site.

Twig ZeiglerWhippleMcCulloch

Why, I belive it's the Whipple and McCulloch Barracuda, and the ex-Whipple and McCulloch Duster, which was salvaged from a toasted piece of wreckage by Twig Zeigler. Both cars ran out of Oregon. And pretty well at that.
